Carol Bennington, a polarity practitioner and a certified Bach flower essence practitioner, will help us explore the world of flowers for health care. Flower essences, Bennington explains, are non-toxic, liquid solutions made from the individual flowers of specific plants.

The focus of the flower essences is emotionally based and the goal is to return to a point of emotional balance. Flower essences allow your body to harmonize, similar to the way an orchestra tunes to a tuning fork.

One selects the correct flower essence based upon their current emotional state. How does it work? Energetically, Bennington suggests!

They work vibrationally on an emotional and mental level that helps to reduce negative feelings, encourage the healing process and balance energy in the body.

Each flower has its own individual pattern that matches with the pattern of corresponding emotions. Transferring the energy pattern of the blossoms into the water makes the essences.

Dr. Andrew Weil suggests that medicine in the future will be based upon the understanding of how diseases first start on an energetic level before they manifest physically. Could we ever open our belief systems enough to understand that it may be possible to assess a specific energy pattern in a person that could result in early detection of a potentially life threatening disease?

As Bennington illustrates, flower essences help to harmonize the body, mind and spirit. Unlike many drugs that cover up the symptoms, the flower essences deal with the emotional root of the problem: energy imbalances.

Need some extra Vitamin C in your diet?

Well, mosey out your back door and munch on some daylilies! Daylilies, marigolds, dandelions, pumpkin flowers, pansies, and nasturtiums are appearing in mainstream food centers. Can you believe?! According to Elaine Glusoe in “Petals on a Platter”, many of these petals contain high concentrations of vitamins and minerals, such as phosphorus in dandelions and potassium in pumpkin flowers.

She says that the most vibrantly colored types, like nasturtiums and marigolds, boast free radical fighting antioxidants. Press a few posies into soft cheese, use them as a garnish in salads, or float your favorite
blossoms in chilled soup.
