studies reveal that those who have a positive mental attitude about life and wellness live longer and recover faster from illnesses. All of the leading experts on wellness agree that the number one thing that you can do to get and stay healthy is to meditate on a regular basis. Meditation reduces stress and promotes a feeling of well-being. Staying positive is staying well!

 

Maintaining A Healthy Nervous System

our nervous system is the first thing that is formed in the womb, the very beginning of who we are. Our body then protects this delicate system by developing vertebrae to surround it. Nerves then flow out through our vertebrae to control and run all other parts of our body. If interference occurs in that nerve flow we call that a vertebral subluxation complex (vsc). A vsc can occur for many different reasons, including stress, trauma, poor diet, improper lifting and poor sleeping positions. Proper spinal care and regular adjustments (re-positioning of the vertebrae) maintains a healthy spine and nervous system.

 

Exercise

experts agree that regular exercise is critical for good health.  Studies reveal that regular aerobic and weight-bearing exercise improves the immune system, improves mental attitude, promotes better sleep, reduces osteoporosis, heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Cardiovascular workouts should be done at least 3-4 times a week for at least 30 minutes. Weight resistance training should be done 2-3 times a week. It is recommended that you seek proper instruction before you begin and that you start slowly, increasing weight and duration over time

 

Sleep

proper rest is absolutely necessary in order for the body to headland maintain wellness. Quality sleep provides the body time to regenerate, nourish and heal itself. Most children need at least nine hours and most adults need around eight hours. A proper, sturdy mattress is essential for good sleep as well as a correctly fitted and supportive pillow. An afternoon nap when possible is beneficial but does not replace the proper amount of sleep needed to stay well and happy.

 

Nutrition

proper nutrition is very important to all aspects of health and well-being.  Without the proper nutrients, our bodies cannot run. Like a car without the right kind of gas, we will run out of energy and will need repairs. Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables are required for vitamins and minerals, as well as anti-oxidants.  We need to eat regular small meals throughout the day, with small amounts of protein in each. Protein allows us to build and repairs our cells and tissues.  Vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants prevent us from developing many diseases such as heart disease and cancer. Water is also very important – eight large glasses a day is a must to maintain proper hydration. Dehydration can lead to many health issues including joint, muscle and skin problems. A good quality multi-vitamin vitamin is suggested for everyone – this ensures that you will get what you need each day. For those under stress a b vitamin is always beneficial and for smoker’s vitamin c is essential to avoid future problems. Eating well and taking the proper supplements is the best defense against disease.
